0 A.D., is an upcoming real time strategy game developed by Wildfire Studios. It's a historical economy and war game focusing on the ancient years between 500 BCE to 1 CE for both the single player and multiplayer versions. Players assume the role of a ruler in one of four civilizations and battle it out in the game's two primary game modes - skirmish and campaign. In campaign mode, players are given a scenario, such as the Babylonian period, in which they must conquer the enemy lands and win the game.
In skirmish mode, players fight other civilizations on the same map in their ancient times and decide who will be the victor by choosing the best course of action. Players can choose to use a variety of different strategies to achieve this, from constructing up their armies and using unique units to the use of powerful weapons to help them on their way. The overall goal of skirmish mode is to defeat your opponents, either through the use of the unique units or with the unique weapons that you've been given. You may also choose to purchase resources and recruit new units to aid you in your quest, or even buy more gold to purchase those resources and units.
In order to get started playing, you'll need to download the game to your PC or Mac and then select the "war" tab. This will allow you to start the game from scratch and play through skirmish mode. Although the graphics are quite basic, the interface is functional and does offer a good overview of the features of the game. There are plenty of tutorials available online to help you get started as well, so you won't have any trouble getting the hang of the game. Once you've picked a faction and gotten some basic units (which come in all shapes and sizes), you should try setting up a skirmish by placing your armies onto a map and then taking them out by attacking the enemy base. Although the game is designed so that you can do this anywhere, it's important that you keep a close eye on your army as there are times when your armies have to travel distances in order to reach their objectives and there are also times when you have to go on offensive missions and attack other nations, especially when they are on defensive missions.
